Nurtured by Nature

During the COVID pandemic, TEN released a series of ideas for our community in lockdown/isolation to find connection to nature during a very challenging winter. Despite COVID being now under control, this series still has so much to give, so we decided to keep it here for reflection.

Taroona’s beautiful natural environment is the reason many of us have chosen to live here. For nearly 23 years local Landcare group, the Taroona Environment Network (TEN), have been protecting and nurturing Taroona’s coastal and bushland reserves for the enjoyment of everyone. Now it’s time to allow nature to nurture us. Instead of our usual working bees and nature walkabouts (which are not safe for the time being), we’ll be providing regular Nurtured by Nature ideas to help you and your family observe, discover and immerse yourselves in the natural world – in your own backyard, and on your short exercise walks. We know that nature is good for the soul and good for the brain — it heals us, grounds us, and lowers our stress levels.

Digital devices are critical to enable us to stay in touch with family and friends during this time, but they can also overwhelm. Following are some ideas for how you can connect more closely with nature and take delight in the little things.

Stay safe everyone.
